Jewelry making in grades seven and eight.
Students in my IMAGE classes created these awesome metal work/jewelry pieces. They first designed them either by folding and cutting paper squares or by drawing images freehand. Students then glued the image onto a blank piece of metal, pierced the metal with a metal punch and cut out the holes and edge elements. Students then filed the metal and used emery paper to polish the surfaces. Finally, they buffed the metal with both Tripoli and red rouge polishing compounds.
Students could either mount their work on a plaque (that they stained) or hang them on a cord or chain. The results are wonderful!
